Rosie O'Donnell and Roseanne Barr opened the New York Comedy Festival Tuesday night at the Lincoln Center -- and nothing was off limits.

Controversial former View host O'Donnell, who began her career in stand-up, took the stage first shortly after 8 p.m. to thunderous applause and a standing ovation. In a black shirt, jacket, and pants, she got straight to the point, joking, "I don't know if you heard, I did a TV show last year. It's over, it's over!"

The celeb slam-session, on the other hand, had just begun.

On Madonna: "She's actually the one who got me into [Kabbalah]. At first I thought it was a cult. I found out the red string costs 32 dollars. As a Jew, I was offended."

On Britney Spears: (While doing an impression of her lethargic VMA performance) "Like her, I'll just wing it! I want her to come live with me."

On Paula Abdul and Whitney Houston: "Whitney and Paula both need to go on that show Intervention! Hell to the no!"

Barr, wearing a rhinestone duster jacket and her hair in an updo got in some digs as well.

On Kirstie Alley: “I sorta really hate Kirstie Alley's guts. She won the Emmy nine times. Just be fat and shut the f_ up!”

On Catherine Zeta-Jones: “No one wants to f__ an old man, especially for four hours. Unless you're Catherine Zeta-Jones! She's into it!”

Later, O’Donnell and Barr joined each other onstage for some more mockery, calling Rosie’s hair very “Flock of Seagulls” and joking that “Posh Spice is doing it.” O'Donnell then did an impression of Marie Osmond passing out on Dancing with the Stars, while Barr roared with laughter.

The show, which lasted almost two hours, ended with another standing ovation.

Whether she ends up on MSNBC or not, it looks like Rosie is ready for her comeback!

i wish i was there!
