On the third day of her divorce trial, Christie Brinkley tearfully recalled how she told her children that she was splitting with their father Peter Cook.

She said she spared them the details on Cook's affair with his teenage assistant and his $3,000-a-month porn habit.

"My first conversation was to reassure to the kids that everything was going to be fine, but mommy and daddy had a little argument and that we are going to have a little timeout," she testified, according to the New York Post. "I told them, 'I think daddy has fallen out of love with me. When that happens people move apart but that doesn't mean mommy and daddy don't love you.'"

Brinkley, 54, and Cook, 49, are currently fighting for custody of the kids, Jack, 13, and Sailor, 10. They split in 2006 after Cook cheated on her with Diana Bianchi.

Brinkley said it was a "nightmare" throwing a birthday party with 30 kids after news first broke of her husband's infidelity.

Still, she kept a brave face to keep her family strong.

"That's the most important thing," Brinkley said, "to have a big, happy family."

Brinkley said that she hasn't "even thought about dating or anything like that." (Cook has been linked to at least three women, the Post reports.)

"I've just been completely focused getting the kids over this painful event," she testified, adding that she felt it would be "inappropriate because I think the kids have been though a lot of changes."

Cook's lawyers are expected to accuse Brinkley of having "anger" issues.
